Manager, Risk – Heartland Generation Ltd.

Based in Calgary and reporting to the Director, Finance and Corporate Planning, the Manager, Risk plays a key role in generating and implementing policies and processes that enable energy risk to be monitored and managed. This role draws on your understanding of market price dynamics of deal pricing and risk analysis. The Manager, Risk also supports broad commercial initiatives through the application of risk management practices. As a leader, this position includes supervision of risk management and back office staff involved in the measurement, analysis monitoring and reporting of commodity risks. In collaboration with the compliance team, this position will also ensure proper controls are in place and monitored for various applicable regulations. A hands-on approach with a roll up the sleeves attitude will propel your success in this dynamic role.

As the ideal candidate for this role, you bring a strong risk management and analysis background with a keen understanding of the electrical generation or oil and gas commodity marketplace. Your technical knowledge is underpinned by well-developed communications skills that can confidently articulate risk positions and implications to a broad audience. Ideally, you possess a related post-secondary degree in business or economics with ten-plus years of experience in the energy sector. Further certifications including a CFA, FRM or ERP are considered advantageous.
